drestrip
Playful high quality and innovative daily wear for adults drestrip
Desiner / Yuji Kobayashi
The name “drestrip” is formed of a combination of three words: “dress” (to wear), “strip” (to take off extraneous things), and “trip” (euphoria). Sublimating sporty tastes as theme, the label’s highly original creations are sure to surprise anyone. ¦Original materials that remake the image of leather

Drestrip’s main materials are all leathers tanned using an original special method.
What might seem at first glance to be a track jacket made of polyester like you could find anywhere actually features supple, waterproof deerskin.
The label also produces unique leathers specifically for the item they are making like those with appearances similar to sweat, corduroy, and army fabrics.
Besides doing a splendid job of reversing the hard image leather has had up until now, drestrip is also characterized by the selection and quality of its coloring.
“I always want to surprise as many people as I can. Sometimes people ask me why I take high grade materials and make them look cheaper, but this is exactly what I find interesting. Rather than just being another part of a big framework, I’d rather stay small and maintain my own identity.” ¦Making clothes with an aim of contributing to society

Destrip decided to participate in the Paris exhibition when they perfected their first original deerskin.
As Kobayashi puts it, “I was confident that we have made something found nowhere else in the world, so I wanted to test it out on a global scale.”
The brand’s theme for the past few seasons has been “basics with a twist”.
What initially appear to be casual designs are carefully broken down with superb balance, emerging as items that could only have come from drestrip.
“I want to make everyday wear. Something high quality and cool that you can just throw on when you go to the convenience store – that’s what I’m going for every time.”
Kobayashi’s greatest goal as a designer is to contribute to society through his brand.
“Drestrip’s clothing could become a source of conversation amongst families and friends, for example. I think that my role isn’t just to make sure people enjoy the clothes, it’s also to provide them with a means of communication beyond this.
